Skimmer Pool
Skimmer pools have a water surface that is located 10-15cm (4″-6″) below the edge of the pool, giving it a classic design. This design style offers a wide range of options for shape and style. The name “skimmer” originates from the skimming process, where water is collected from openings along the edge of the pool and sent to the pump. Skimmer pools are also known for being relatively cost-effective, making them a popular choice for many.
Overflow Pool
The overflow channel encircles the entire perimeter of the pool, with the water level being even with the edge of the pool and flowing into the channel. The channel is usually covered with plastic grating, but in upscale residential pools, it’s becoming increasingly popular to use tiles or stone to enhance its appearance.
The overflow channel then drains into a balance tank, which is a holding tank located underground below the pool level. The water from the channel is filtered and then returned to the swimming pool through the filtration system. The balance tank helps to maintain the overall balance of water in the pool and ensures a continuous supply of clean and filtered water.
Infinity Pool
An infinity pool, also known as a negative edge or vanishing edge pool, creates the illusion of limitless water with no boundaries. This striking design is particularly effective when the pool overlooks a stunning view or is situated on an elevated site.
The illusion is achieved by gradually sloping the water level away from the main pool, creating a waterfall into a hidden catch pool. The catch pool then recirculates the water back into the main pool, giving the appearance of water flowing into infinity. The catch pool is concealed from view, enhancing the illusion of an endless body of water. An infinity pool is a stunning addition to any outdoor living area and adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to your property.
Pool With Glass Wall
A glass wall is a unique and eye-catching feature that sets your swimming pool apart from others. It is essentially an underwater window that has no support beams on top, making it completely transparent. This creates the illusion that there is no wall at all and the water simply ends vertically.
From the outside, you can enjoy an unobstructed view deep into the water, free from the distortions that are often present on the water surface. It makes for an Instagram-worthy moment to see a swimmer partially submerged and partially above the water, behind the glass wall. Adding a glass wall to your swimming pool can enhance the overall aesthetic of your outdoor living area and create a stunning visual effect.
